The Independent Textile Rental Association (ITRA) was formed to support entrepreneurs in the textile rental space, and they hold two events a year where industry professionals can come together to share their stories and get tips on how to make their business flourish. IWA will be sending the VP of Business Development Steven Wright to speak at ITRA’s 2018 Mid-Year Conference & Supplier Exhibits. Titled “What You Need to Know About Insuring Your Laundry Operation”, his talk’s goal is to shield business owners from some of the less common risks they may not even realize they’re exposed to.
A Wide-Spread Problem
When 75% of small businesses are underinsured, it’s clear there’s a disconnect when it comes to how people view their insurance policies. Owners know their commercial laundry operation has to take safety seriously in order to survive, but they may not see all of the dangers they’re facing. Careful maintenance of machinery, mats on the floor, and detailed instructions on how to handle the equipment is really just the beginning. Wright works for a company that has more than seven decades of experience when it comes to insuring business owners. The technology and compliance regulations may have changed over that time, but the need for the right policy hasn’t.
Exploring the Details
From employment practices to pollution hazards to cyber liability, Wright will explain how different threats can impact a laundry operation if they’re not financially prepared for them. Owners have to protect their customers and employees as much as they have to protect their assets. To do this properly, they have to consider (and address) more than the obvious hazards. An independent textile renter relies on their reputation to find and keep new business, and just one messy claim can mean a huge blow to a bottom line. Like IWA as a whole, Wright is dedicated to coaching people on how to manage their risks, so they can continue to serve their customers without interruption.
Finding a Solution
The ITRA event will feature a number of different talks covering several topics, from leadership to negotiation practices. But Wright’s talk may be the most important one of them all. By focusing an owner’s attention on risks they may have either underestimated or ignored completely, he makes it possible to for a laundry operation to set a foundation that’s rooted in preparation. The goal is always to implement smart safety practices that work to eliminate the chances of a catastrophe, but even the most air-tight plans can sometimes can awry. There are few better feelings than knowing you have a policy (and an insurer) you can rely on when something goes wrong.
