A Guide to Holiday Stain Removal

With the holidays right around the corner, festivities and treats of all kinds are ready to be had. This also means that your clients are likely going to be inundated with clothing items that are soiled from such celebrations. While some of these stains may be more difficult to remove than others, there is always a solution. In addition to securing their operations with a comprehensive FabriCare Advantage Program, share the following stain removal tips with your clients.

Oil-based stains: Butter, salad dressing, gravy, and turkey.

Pretreat the garment with a prewash stain remover and wash in hot water- the hottest temperature permitted for that specific material.

Fruit based stains: Apple pie, cranberry sauce, etc.

According to American Coin-Op, treat these stains promptly. Remove excess fruit and run the fabric under cold water. Wash the item as soon as possible using the warmest water and bleach that are safe for the fabric.

Beverage stains.

Soak in cool water first, then treat with a prewash solution. If the fabric allows, use chlorine or oxygen bleach to remove the stain during the wash cycle, as well.

Food coloring stains.

Blot with a sponge and cool water immediately. If this does not remove the stain, soak in cool water for another 30 minutes before laundering with a prewash treatment and liquid laundry detergent.

Wax stains.

Remove excess wax with a dull knife then place stain between paper towels and press with a warm iron, transferring the wax to the towels. Continue, using clean towels, until the wax no longer transfers, says the article. Blot with a prewash treatment and launder once it has dried.
